Machinist II - (Okuma Focus) - Second Shift

Overview: We are seeking a skilled Machinist II with expertise in operating and programming Okuma machines for our aerospace manufacturing facility. As a crucial member of our team, you will be responsible for producing high-quality precision components to exact specifications, contributing to the production of critical aerospace parts.

Responsibilities:

  1. Okuma Machine Operation: Proficiently operate and set up Okuma CNC machines, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to production schedules.
  2. Programming: Develop and modify CNC programs using Okuma controls to meet engineering drawings and specifications.
  3. Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough inspections of machined components using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  4. Troubleshooting: Identify and troubleshoot issues with machines, tools, or parts to maintain efficient production processes.
  5. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of production activities, including setup sheets, tooling lists, and inspection reports.
  6. Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to create a safe working environment. Ensure compliance with aerospace industry regulations and quality standards.
  7. Continuous Improvement: Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production processes, reduce waste, and optimize efficiency.
  8. Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, quality assurance, and production teams to resolve any issues and ensure smooth workflow.

Qualifications:

  1. Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience as a CNC Machinist, with a focus on operating and programming Okuma machines in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
  2. Technical Skills: Proficiency in setting up, operating, and programming Okuma CNC machines, with a strong understanding of G-code and machining principles.
  3. Blueprint Reading: Ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to produce precise machined components.
  4. Quality Focus: Demonstrated ability to perform accurate inspections and maintain high-quality standards.
  5. Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify and resolve issues efficiently.
  6. Team Player: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
  7. Adaptability: Willingness to work second shift hours (Monday to Friday, 2pm-10pm) and flexibility to adjust to changing production demands.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical certification or vocational training in machining preferred.
