Job Summary
The primary role of the rehab program director is to work with the program director, interdisciplinary management/staff and vice president of ambulatory services and occupational health services to maintain program excellence and accreditation through the development of a viable disciplinary team/partnership.

Essential Functions
  • In collaboration with the Program Director recruit, hire, provide orientation/training, and retain a sufficient number of qualified staff to carry out the responsibilities of the Rehab department
  • Develop schedules that meet the needs of the rehab department and customers
  • In collaboration with the Program Director ensure employee performance meets or exceeds expectations and periodic performance evaluations are completed
  • In collaboration with the Program Director ensure rehabilitation staff is providing appropriate care in keeping with established standards for quality and in accordance with generally established principles of care
  • Supervise the scheduling for therapy services considering available treatment hours, staff resources and overall plan of care
  • May be required to perform patient care duties as their licensed discipline
  • Reviews, analyzes, maintains, and adjusts staffing to ensure all needed tasks are completed.
  • Prioritizes assignments and delegates work to staff within department.
  • Completes specific assignments and assists staff in completing work when short staffed or under tight deadlines.
  • Promotes positive alliances for the department to facilitate continued growth of the same.
  • In collaboration with the Program Director collect and maintain departmental statistical data. Forward the statistical data to appropriate departments.
  • Maintains department materials and equipment to ensure appropriate tools for diagnostic and therapeutic intervention
  • Facilitates the development of trusting relationships and partnerships with providers, payers, patients and co-workers, including a close working relationships with medical directors that includes them in program and policy decisions.
  • Promotes an environment that facilitates innovation, creative solutions and empowerment. Ensuring that decisions involve those who perform, and are affected by, the work
  • Fosters teamwork and organizational structures to improve communication
  • Demonstrates competency in leadership skills, work and service. Serves as coach, mentor and positive role model
  • Holds self and other leaders accountable to the highest standards
  • Understands the organizational goals for patient satisfaction and strives to meet and exceed these goals
  • Supervisory responsibilities of all rehab programs
  • Communicates with and among physicians, supervisors, and office staff in the operations of the practice.
  • In collaboration with the Program Director provides leadership, direction and guidance to office management staff and therapists.
  • Makes recommendations, for additional purchases as needed.
  • Identifies strategies for growth and executes plans to achieve growth goals.
  • Provides coverage when needed at other locations within Heywood Healthcare.
  • Make regular office visits with referring providers and office staff in the community to promote access/use of clinical services
  • Maintains department materials and equipment to ensure appropriate tools for diagnostic and therapeutic intervention.
  • Works cohesively as a team with the Program Director for the betterment of the Rehab Program
  • Along with the Program Director meets on a regular basis with depart staff to share hospital information and review departmental progress toward goals.
  • In collaboration with the Program Director identify access and service barriers, customer service improvement opportunities and other strategies to strengthen relationships with referring physicians. Develop new referral sources.
  • Coordinate special activities designed to improve relationships between medical offices office staff and health system and service line, including speaking and education opportunities for the practice.
  • Applies knowledge of principles of standard precautions. Routinely and consistently uses PPE to avoid risk of exposure to self and others
  • Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection control policies and protocols
  • Process Payroll and any other reimbursement related needs. Maintains adequate staffing for the needs of the Program
  • Respects diverse views and approaches, and contributes in maintaining an environment of professionalism, tolerance, civility and acceptance toward all employees, patients and visitors. Attends H.E.A.R.T trainings
  • Provides coverage when needed at other locations within Heywood Healthcare
  • Completes all Annual Mandatory Education requirements and any other required mandatory education (i.e. malpractice)
  • Participates in meeting Quality measures, tracking and reporting

Qualifications:
Job Requirements
Minimum Education
  • Bachelor degree from Physical Therapy/Physical Therapy Assistant, Occupational Therapy/Occupational Therapy Assistant or Speech-Language Pathology, Audiologist Program

Minimum Work Experience
  • Experience with in-patient and out-patient therapy preferred

  • Minimum (3) years of treating therapy or therapy assistant preferred

  • Minimum (1) years of therapy management experience required

Required Skills

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Exemplary customer service skills

Required License

  • Must possess and maintain a current license in the state of practice

Functional Demands

Physical Requirements:Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Frequently reaches (extending hands and arms in any direction), and handles (seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or working with hands).
