Hall County Government is Hiring a Staff Accountant Near Gainesville, GA

JOB SUMMARY: Performs administrative and supervisory functions for grants related to the judicial branch. This position is responsible for implementation, coordination, monitoring, and accounting oversight of the grants. This includes grant policies and procedures, grant accounting, grant compliance requirements such as reporting and disclosure. This position reports directly to the Deputy Court Administrator and assist Court Administration and Treatment Services in evaluating internal controls for the grants as well as design and implement internal audit tests to monitor compliance.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities
  • Identifies and secures resources, including grants, to support existing and new Court initiatives with emphasis on those that lead to improvements and/or efficiencies in programs and services.
  • Monitors the grants including reconciling and daily monitoring of the grant budgets; analyze reports on status of funding and expenditures to make recommendations for adjustments; analyze funding requests made in conjunction with proposed program changes to determine adequacy and reasonableness; monitors grant performance, identifying problems and possible solutions when needed.
  • Provides financial accountability for grants awarded to the judicial branch; coordinates grant compliance activities; prepares and maintains grant related financial plans; forecast and annual budgets; and prepares grant reports and reimbursements.
  • Develops, compiles, monitors, and analyzes various administrative, statistical, and financial data; ensures funds are allocated, spent, and reported according to grant requirements. Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as required by granting agencies.
  • Maintains a proposal calendar to ensure that all applications, reporting, and renewal deadlines are met. Performs related accounting activities; proposes entries to various accounting reports, grant reports, and general ledgers; monitors and balances/reconciles fund accounts, deposit records, general ledger accounts, grant accounts, and/or other financial transactions/records.
  • Maintains file system of grants and department records: creates, updates, and maintains codes and numbers for financial accounts; ensures that permanent grant records and official files are properly maintained according to federal/state retention regulations; and establishes and maintains a reference source for grant submission and research by maintaining files of all submitted grants. Coordinates special projects as assigned.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
