Quality Micro Technician

Kelly® Science & Clinical is seeking Quality Micro Technician for a 6-month contract-to-hire position at premier client in Fontana, CA. Overview

The Quality Micro Technician is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day micro lab operations including the implementation and monitoring of quantitative and qualitative microbiological testing activities to facilitate compliance with company objectives and regulatory requirements.

Schedule: Day Shift

Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to all health and safety policies/procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE) while in the laboratory, warehouse or production areas.
  • Adhere to food quality and food safety as per quality standards and/or Safe Quality Food requirements.
  • Adhere to good laboratory practiced as outlined in the company food safety and safety policies.
  • Ensure all product, ingredient and environment samples are collected and analysis is completed per the company schedule.
  • Maintain accurate, legible records of all tests and retests performed. Complete all other required reports (work orders, action reports, etc.) in a timely manner.
  • Ensure proficiency in the use of all micro equipment utilized for the analysis of product, ingredients, and environmental samples.
  • Ensure lab supply levels are maintained and supplies are ordered in a timely manner to assure no interruption in testing.
  • Assuring lab equipment is maintained, calibrated and serviced per the manufacture’s guidelines for optimal operation.
  • Communicate out of specification sample results to management for initiation of escalation protocols as needed to assure appropriate disposition of any affected ingredients, product, or equipment.
  • Communicate with the technician coming on shift of any issues which may affect production, testing or scheduling. Wait for your replacement before leaving the laboratory. If your replacement is late, inform QA Management.
  • Always maintain laboratory cleanliness.
  • Utilize free time by assisting other technicians or production personnel, filing, preparing reagents, photocopying audit sheets, checking held products, emptying reference samples, reading micro plates, checking inventory supplies and overseeing repacks.
  • Complete special projects and other reasonable duties as assigned by Management.
  • Work closely with all departments to improve quality, increase efficiencies, increase yields and eliminate out of specification or damaged product.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Quality within a laboratory environment, preferably food/beverage industry
  • Knowledge of quality systems (GMP, HACCP, SQF) – certification ideal
  • Experience in Food/ Beverage Laboratory management preferred.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, SAP and Power Point
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems, results oriented.
  • Organized and detail oriented, adaptable to change.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written.
