PURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATIONThe purpose of this classification is to perform work involving field inspection of stormwater structures and outfalls with hand-held GPS equipment, dry weather screening of storm sewer system, updating, and maintaining a stormwater system database for the county's Phase II Stormwater Program, creating and updating maps.*OPEN UNTIL FILLED*

Other duties may be required and assigned.Performs tasks for the Phase II MS4 Permit program, including, but not limited to storm water quality tests, storm sewer inspections, storm water detention pond inspections and investigation of non-storm water discharges. Performs field map updates of County-owned storm sewer system, under the direction of the County Engineer, as part of the County's obligations under its Phase II MS4 Permit from Georgia EPD.Performs field data collection, including occasional trips during inclement weather to investigate storm water issues. Uses the County GIS system to input data from field inspections for tracking purposes. Converts data to a form that can be used for reporting to Georgia EPD under the direction of the County Engineer. Generates GIS maps and database reports for MS4 annual reporting to the Georgia EPD.Inspects stormwater best management practices including stormwater management ponds, bio-retention cells, and water quality devices.Responds to citizen complaints regarding water quality issues by performing investigation of non-storm water discharges. Prepares reports of inspection/investigation activities as required, including conditions found, actions taken, recommendations for further action, and issues violation notices.
