: PURCHASING DEPARTMENT Brief Description Assists the Purchasing Director by coordinating the process for purchase requests to ensure compliance with the purchasing laws of the State of Texas for assigned commodity groups. Detailed Description Assists in coordinating, preparing, soliciting and evaluating quotes within an assigned commodity group. Assists in collecting and analyzing information and maintaining records. Prepares sealed bids and proposals for single purchases and annual contracts, and schedules and attends bid conferences. Serves as a liaison between departments and suppliers to develop specifications and determine quantity and quality. Answers questions and works with department and vendor to resolve any concerns, Expedites payments and prepares supplements, cancellations and adjustments. Develops and maintains catalogs, supplier lists and price lists. Prepares briefings and court orders for Commissioners Court approval. Performs other duties as assigned. Job Requirements Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a job related field of study. Skilled in the use of standard software applications. Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments and the general public. Must possess a valid Texas drivers license, with a good driving record. Standard office environment. Must be able to visit various off-site locations.
