Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse
Location: Syracuse, NY 13210
Shift: Days (Mon - Fri)
Contract Duration: 13 weeks with possible extension

Responsibilities:

• Able to perform the majority of patient care functions needed in an acute care setting with minimal orientation and supervision.
• Greet patients, direct them to exam rooms, and prepare for exams.
• Routine assistance during exams: set up trays for injections, measure and record the progress of patients, and take and record vital signs.
• Assist with general office duties, reception, appointment scheduling, filing, and chart preparation.
• Contact various insurance companies to obtain authorizations for physical therapy, MRs, CTs, surgery, etc.
• Contact primary care physicians to obtain referrals for new patients or extensions of referrals for current patients.
• Assist physicians in patient care.
• Maintained exam rooms and all clinical areas.
• Administer injections and assist with Paps and other procedures.
• Experience using Electronic Medical Records is strongly desired.
• Implements nursing care activities under the direction of the primary or associate nurse as outlined in the nursing care plan.
• Observe and report patient responses to treatments.
• Participates in activities related to nursing unit management.

Skills:

• Current New York State license; able to be certified/re-certified in CPR.
• Minimum of 1 (one) year of experience required.
• Prior experience in an inpatient setting is preferred.
• Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Demonstrates effective interpersonal communication skills with patients, family members, and other members of the healthcare team.
