We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Accounting Manager to join our finance team. This is a full-time, permanent position that offers an exciting opportunity to oversee and manage the daily operations of our accounting department. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial reporting, accounts receivable and payable, general ledger, financial accounting, forecasting, budgeting, grant management, and real estate development. CPA is preferred.
Responsibilities:
1. Oversee and manage the daily operations of the accounting department including month-end and year-end close process, accounts payable/receivable, cash receipts, general ledger, payroll, treasury, budgeting, cash forecasting, revenue and expenditure variance analysis, capital assets reconciliations, check runs, fixed asset activity, debt activity etc.
2. Develop and implement financial policies and procedures, and ensure compliance.
3. Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements.
4. Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts, and report variances.
5. Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting.
6. Research technical accounting issues for compliance.
7. Support month-end and year-end close process.
8. Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
9. Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
10. Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
11. Additional duties as necessary.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Advanced degree preferred.
2. Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license preferred.
3. Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
4. Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
5. Experience with creating financial statements.
6. Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
7. Excellent accounting software user and administration skills.
8. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
9. Impeccable analytical and organizational skills.
10. Self-motivated and self-directed; able to work with minimal supervision.
11. High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
12. Experience in grant management and real estate development is a plus.
