The Abel Lab at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's Division of Population Sciences is currently seeking a Research Assistant II to work on cancer and medical ethics research projects that focus on adult patient populations. Current projects focus on the areas of equity in cancer care access and delivery, climate change and cancer, ethical use of artificial intelligence in cancer care, and optimizing care for older adults. The Research Assistant will work directly with physician investigators on projects funded by the National Institutes of Health and major oncology organizations. The Research Assistant's efforts will primarily be focused on maintaining regulatory documents, assisting in data curation and analysis, enrolling and tracking study participants, writing literature reviews, and tracking study documentation. There will also be some face-to-face research with patients. They will join a group of other dedicated early career research professionals working in the Division. This is an excellent opportunity for a person who is applying for professional school in the medical field within the next two years and wants hands-on research experience.
Responsibilities
Under general supervision, the Research Assistant II may be responsible for some or all of the following:
* Contact, recruit, and enroll research participants.
* Collect and enter research data.
* Administer surveys/interview with research participants.
* Maintain databases (with emphasis on data entry) and project documentation with accuracy.
* Assist with documentation for and communication with the institutional review board (IRB).
* Maintain the security and confidentiality of all study materials and data
* Conduct focused medical record abstractions for patients
* Conduct relevant literature searches and reviews as requeste.
* Assist team in the coordination of project-related activities
* Other project-related or administrative responsibilities as requested by management
* Assist investigators with data analysis and manuscript preparation
* Prepare study reports and develop protocols
* Responsible for IRB submission activities
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in public health, natural or social science preferred.
* 2 years of experience in public health or health policy strongly preferred.
