Join Takeda as a Research Scientific Associate Director: TME Tumor Discovery Lead, ODDU where you will drive the initiation and progression of assets towards clinical entry. You will also establish project team goals, develop action plans, and implement strategies. We offer the opportunity to contribute to projects at various stages, from target identification and validation to early clinical proof of concept. As part of the Oncology Drug Discovery Unit (ODDU) within Tumor Microenvironment (TME) Disruptor group, you will report to TME Disruptor Tumor Portfolio Lead and work with research teams, academic and/or biotech scientists, while mentoring junior scientists.

How you will contribute:

  • Independently design and implement extensive scientific research projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

  • Be a project leader who seeks to partner with other project team leaders, Precision Translational Medicine and colleagues across research and is responsible for team culture, goals, and driving strategy in a way that is clear to all team members.

  • Design and direct research strategies and activities to achieve program objectives; offer leadership, timelines, and contingency plans.

  • Establish project directions that integrate science, key technical knowledge, and program objectives.

  • Collaborate with various departments and disciplines as a scientific authority within the field.

  • Capable of playing an active role in the evaluation of potential drug candidates for in-licensing or partnering.

  • Help prepare, edit, and review documents for regulatory submission including study reports, IB's, IND's.

  • Frequent contact and scientific authority with all personnel at several management levels and across the organization through collaboration with other departments

  • Be a senior company/project representative at external conferences, or business meetings and work closely with in-house and external partners in developing solid translational and research plans, in interpreting results, and in determining next steps to maximize patient-centered value of the portfolio.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • PhD degree in Immunology, Pharmacology, Cancer Biology or a closely related discipline with 6 years post-PhD experience or MS with 10 year's experience, or BS with 12 year's experience

  • Expert scientific knowledge and experience in the areas of ImmunoOncology, or Cancer Biology is required.

  • Biopharmaceutical industry experience leading projects and teams to develop innovative therapeutics and navigating complexities of drug discovery.

  • Knowledgeable and experienced in all aspects of their project with ability to contribute to other strategic initiatives, including contributing to regulatory documentation.

  • Cross-cultural understanding to utilize the diverse talents and has demonstrated ability to manage matrix teams to maximize organizational productivity.

  • Capable of leading a matrixed team comprised of scientists from within Takeda as well as external collaborators.

  • Demonstrate well-developed knowledge of other disciplines/departments and how they function together.

  • Broad recognition for in-depth expertise in a scientific discipline

  • Right attitude (agile, curious, positive, open-minded, "can-do" mindset), must be willing and able to be "hands on," results-oriented mindset.

  • Effective leadership, people management, communication skills, and a team builder management style are essential.

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$149,100.00 - $234,300.00

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.?The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/or long-termincentives. U.S.based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S.based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
