The Town of Avon is accepting applications for a Bar Manager with the Special Events Department!

The Bar Manager will directly supervise Bartenders and one or more bar locations. Additionally, the Bar Manager will greet suppliers and customers, answer questions, and may also prepare and serve beverages. The Bar Manager is responsible for opening and closing procedures for assigned bar(s).

To succeed as a Bar Manager, you should have a neat professional appearance, engaging and friendly personability, work well in a fast-paced environment and defuse tense situations. You should be efficient, observant, knowledgeable, and personable.

Essential Functions:

• Manage the business aspects of the bar, cash handling, operation and programming of point-of-sale systems, reporting, familiar with liquor licensing and protocols, conscious of risk and liability exposure, loss control measures, inventory, and reordering supplies.
• Current TIPS and/or Safe SERV certification
• Training staff to provide excellent service to patrons.
• Creating effective schedules and quickly resolving conflicts to ensure that the bar is well staffed during peak hours.
• Setting and enforcing quality and safety controls.
• Working with diverse personalities both on the staff and patrons.
• Diffusing tense situations between patrons or staff members to prevent possible safety or legal issues. Contacting supervisor, security, or police to further manage unruly persons, if needed.
• Maintaining a fun, safe atmosphere for patrons and bartenders.
• Checking wristbands to ensure customers IDs have been checked, and they are the legal age to purchase alcohol.
