Key Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate, timely interpretation services between healthcare providers and patients within the onsite medical clinic and pharmacy, with a focus on understanding and respect.
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality and uphold all ethical guidelines and standards of medical interpretation.
- Educate healthcare providers about the effective use of interpreting services.
- Assist with the translation of written materials, such as medical instructions and healthcare information, ensuring they are accessible and understandable.
- Simplify medical jargon into language that is easily understandable for the children.
- Show sensitivity to cultural differences and provide culturally competent services
- Assist with coordinating care and scheduling appointments as needed.
- Certification in Medical Interpreting from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 4 years of professional experience as a medical interpreter.
- Proficiency in English and Spanish. - Extensive knowledge of medical terminology and protocol.
- Exceptional listening, retention, and note-taking skills
- Experience interpreting in behavioral health scenarios is strongly preferred.
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion and professionalism.
- Play a key role in the healthcare journey of refugee children, ensuring they not only understand, but also feel understood.
- Collaborate closely with a dedicated, multidisciplinary medical team.
