USAJOBS is Hiring an Emergency Management Specialist (CBRN Response / Threat Mitigation) Near Arlington, VA
- Serves as a Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear (CBRN) response/threat mitigation operations specialist.
- Collaborates with Engineering Division to develop, implement, and administer installation of emergency management policies/concepts of operation and procedures.
- Provides an overarching accountability to the program operations manager, the Chief and Deputy Chief of Engineering Division, and senior leadership on the CBRN operational readiness/capability for a myriad of highly technical projects/programs.
- Serves as a liaison to an array of clients and their representatives, communicating technical information and policy based guidance related to disaster operations.
- Conduct technical instruction and/or briefings supporting the CBRN training program in collaboration with clients.

- Security Requirements: Required to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance with access to SCI, Special Access Programs (SAPs); including submitting to background checks as a condition of employment and continued access to Special Access Programs.

- This is a Mission Essential (ME) position. The incumbent may be required to report to work in the event of a natural disaster, inclement weather, or crisis.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. To qualify at the GS-13 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements minimum qualifications and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:

- Serving in a position with Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear (CBRN) response/threat mitigation responsibilities.
- Demonstrated experience supporting the development of emergency management policies/concepts of operation and procedures.
- Contributes, coordinates, and provides technical safety and training programs for personnel operations, maintenance, sustainment, policies, and procedures.
- Serving as a Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear (CBRN) response/threat mitigation operations specialist.
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing emergency management policies/concepts of operation and procedures.
- Designs, implements, coordinates, and provides training programs for personnel regarding operations, maintenance, sustainment, policies, and procedures.
Physical Demands
- The purpose of contacts is to gather or share information when applicable for situational awareness, planning, developing trends, and/or the future/emergency management environment within the DoD and Federal response entities. As a team member, provides support to assist in influencing, motivating, and persuading persons of influence to adapt to operational changes, emergency management initiatives, and/or leveraging resources. Contacts are made to assure viability and compatibility of major life-safety projects/programs and to make suggestions/recommendations for process/procedural changes in emergency management activities and supporting infrastructure, when appropriate. Contacts typically possess differing viewpoints and strategies as well as competing priorities for accomplishment of missions. This requires the incumbent to achieve a common understanding of the requirements and to develop mutually acceptable solutions of alternatives to ensure fulfillment of all requirements; often resulting in changes in project/program SOWs, CONOPS, and associated expenditures.
EducationSubstitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
