Xavier Catholic School is seeking a High School Band Teacher who is responsible for directing and managing the high school band program, including marching band, pep band, concert band, and jazz ensemble. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in music education, excellent teaching skills, and the ability to inspire and motivate students to achieve their highest potential.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement a comprehensive band curriculum for grades 9-12 with a focus on large group instruction, while including marching band, concert band, pep band, and jazz ensemble.
• Teach band classes, including instrumental techniques, music theory, and ensemble performance.
• Plan, organize, and conduct band performances, including concerts, sporting, and community events.
• Provide individual and small group instruction to support student growth and development.
• Maintain and manage band equipment and inventory.
• Develop and maintain a music curriculum that aligns with state and system standards.
• Collaborate with other music teachers and school staff to support the overall music program.
• Assist in the selection of music, supplies, and other instructional materials.
• Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and engagement.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, and school administration regarding student progress and program goals. Schedule and conduct parent-teacher conferences as required.
• Safeguard confidential records and inquires in a professional manner.
• Supervise students during transitions between classes and special events as needed. Ensuring the health and safety of students, equipment and facilities by implementing appropriate precautions
• Represent Xavier Catholic Schools professionally in interactions with stakeholders, including parents, community members, staff and students

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree (BA) in Music Education, Education, or related field required that includes at least 12 hours of credit in teacher education as part of or in addition to the degree.
• Current WI DPI license, or ability to obtain a Wisconsin DPI teaching license upon hire.
• Experience as a Band Teacher teacher in a high school setting, preferred

• Strong knowledge of instrumental techniques and music theory.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of effective teaching methods and ability to maintain a positive learning environment.
• Strong commitment to student-centered learning and academic excellence in a Catholic School System.
• Proficient in using technology including hardware, software and applications.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of administration.
• Demonstrates teamwork skills with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
• Knowledgeable in effective behavior management techniques.
• Skilled in conflict resolution and maintaining confidentiality.
• Submission to a legal background check.
• Willingness to participate in Foundational Catechetical Certification (FCC).
