Department of the Army is Hiring a PARALEGAL SPECIALIST with Security Clearance Near Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD

Duties * Serves as the legal readiness coordinator. * Reviews all readiness reports and coordinates with Command staff and all subordinate unit legal teams to ensure that legal non-deployable Soldiers are coded and tracked correctly. * Performs legal research including researching legal reference files for specific information such as pertinent Federal and State statutes, cases, briefs, opinions and other points of legal significance. * Supports the attorneys in terms of coordinating with other sections within the 20th CBRNE Command to resolve automation issues, arranging for attorney conferences, and to ensure all aspects of logistical support. * Participates in the evaluation, development, and litigation of administrative actions within Army, Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB), Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), and/or Federal Labor Relations Authority (FLRA) channels Requirements Conditions of Employment * Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. * Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance. * Position requires up to 15% TDY. * One-year probationary period. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service which includes: 1) Applying analytical reasoning in the identification, analysis, and evaluation of information to select the appropriate nature of the legal issue; AND 2) Prepare legal documents for assisting attorneys in organizing case or reference materials; AND 3) Apply Army regulations and policies to research legal citations to prepare or notarize legal documents. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Paralegal, Financial Planning & Law, Masters of Laws, etc. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
