Job Description

Do you have transferrable experience for the Environmental Scientist position, a positive attitude, and are looking to join a highly collaborative and people-focused company?

The Environmental Scientist position is responsible for providing support for the preparation of a wide range of client reports and work products including fieldwork, research, data collection, and data analysis.

The Environmental Scientist will work collaboratively with the Environmental Manager and Technicians and will be given the responsibility of completing environmental analysis and review tasks for PennDOT, the Pennsylvania Turnpike, and PA DCNR projects. The Environmental Scientist will also be responsible for attending meetings with Task Managers; attending events and association meetings; and applying technical knowledge and experience to perform a wide-array of assignments.

Typical Duties:

· Conduct yourself and your work to further Susquehanna Civil’s daily mission to deliver quality infrastructure engineering and support services to our client partners and promote a positive work environment with our clients and coworkers. o Responsiveness – Provide timely communications and flexibility.

· Provide QA/QC on environmental reports and documentation for technical accuracy.

· Provide training on environmental task procedures to Environmental Technician-level staff.

· Lead team efforts for data collection in the field for natural resource and hazardous waste studies.

· Independently prepare written technical environmental reports including wetland and stream delineation reports, species habitat assessments, monitoring reports, Chapter 105/Section 404 permits, and environmental site assessment reports.

· Prepare documentation to support NEPA compliance including Endangered Species Act consultation, Section 4(f) evaluations, and agency coordination to address resource impacts.

· Assist with more complex or specialized studies such as Noise Analysis and lead/asbestos sampling.

· Perform other related duties as needed, including support to other department areas upon request.

Skills, Transferrable Experience, & Certifications:

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor’s
  • Professional License: None
  • Minimumexperience: 5-15 years
  • Certification: None

Preferred Skills/Experience:

· Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, or a related science field.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.

· Demonstrate strong business communications and technical writing skills.

· Strong time management skills and ability to adapt in a dynamic working environment to meet deadlines for various projects, occasionally may set priorities for team.

· Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment; ability to work independently or as a team.

· Demonstrate proficiency in at least one type of environmental task including NEPA compliance, wetlands delineation, and or hazardous waste investigations to complete tasks with little or no guidance (i.e. act as a Technical Lead).

· Experience with GIS and/or MicroStation software is desirable.

Offered rate of compensation for this full-time position will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. This job operates in a professional office environment.
