Position Type : Full-Time
Caseload : Based on Experience
Pay range : $35 - 42 / hr.
Responsibilities :
- Conduct assessments and evaluations to identify students' needs, strengths, and areas for development.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other staff members to create comprehensive support plans for students.
- Assist students in developing problem-solving, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills.
- Promote a positive school climate by implementing prevention and intervention strategies related to bullying, peer pressure, and other social issues.
- Deliver classroom presentations and workshops on topics such as academic success, career exploration, and mental health awareness.
- Support students' transition to new schools, grades, or educational programs, providing guidance and resources.
- Maintain accurate and confidential student records, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical guidelines.
- Stay updated on current research and best practices in counseling, incorporating innovative approaches into your work.
- Collaborate with community resources and external agencies to provide additional support and referrals as needed.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and relevant school events.
Qualifications :
- Master's degree in School Counseling or a related field.
- Valid counseling license or certification is required.
- Proven experience working as a school counselor, preferably in a bilingual or multicultural setting.
- Deep understanding of child and adolescent development, as well as the impact of cultural diversity on students' well-being.
- Knowledge of evidence-based counseling techniques and strategies for addressing various academic, social, and emotional issues.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with students, families, and staff members.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Empathy, compassion, and the ability to provide non-judgmental support to students.
- Familiarity with educational systems and community resources available to support students' needs.
- Adherence to professional ethics and confidentiality guidelines.
- Proficiency in using technology and counseling software.
