Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Biller to join our team. The Medical Biller will be responsible for accurately coding and billing medical procedures, ensuring timely reimbursement, and maintaining patient records. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical coding systems, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced medical office environment.
Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze medical documentation to assign appropriate codes for diagnoses, procedures, and services using ICD-9, ICD-10, and other coding systems
- Submit claims to insurance companies electronically or by paper
- Follow up on unpaid claims and denials, and appeal when necessary
- Process payments from insurance companies and patients
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure confidentiality of sensitive information
- Communicate with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients regarding billing inquiries or disputes
- Stay up-to-date on changes in coding regulations and requirements
- Collaborate with the medical office team to improve billing processes and efficiency
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of medical coding systems such as ICD-9, ICD-10, DRG, and CPT
- Proficient in medical billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Familiarity with medical collection procedures and insurance claim processing
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in coding and billing processes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication skills to interact with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; certification in medical billing or related field is preferred
- Minimum of 1 years of experience as a Medical Biller in a healthcare setting
- Proficient computer skills, including MS Office Suite
