Your experience, patience, grooming skills and willingness to help others aspiring to become professional dog groomers are key to success in this position. Prior teaching experience is not necessary, but you’ll need to maintain a classroom environment that promotes learning via cooperative demonstration of techniques and skills. The successful candidate must have at least 3 years of experience as a Professional Dog groomer and demonstrate an understanding of dogs, breed cuts, and of pet parents. The Dog Grooming Instructor will groom dogs daily and will play an important role in teaching at our prestigious state licensed grooming academy. This Instructor will wear dual hats as groomer and client services specialist, expertly teaching our students and servicing our grooming customers. As a Dog Grooming Instructor, you will lead a group of students in their education by providing engaging classroom lectures, along with interactive classroom grooming practices. You will follow a syllabus and be an excellent record keeper. You’ll have help and guidance along the way from the School Director and CEO, and you will play an integral role in managing the classroom and exceeding students' expectations, as well as grooming clients' expectations. Daily duties will include delivering coursework using applied teaching strategies; administering written and practical skills assessments; recording student attendance; preparing students for weekly exams; and performing other duties as assigned. You will assist students in comprehending how to control their anxiety as new groomers, as well as providing calm pet care through clear communication, a friendly and patient demeanor, while demonstrating your outsanding grooming skills. This position requires creativity, an immeasurable love for dogs, and a career-minded individual able to consult with clients, make recommendations, and educate students toward doing the same. We are looking to provide the best customer experience possible by ensuring our clients and students are happy in our family-like environment. Your ability to accommodate requests and alert pet parents to potential health problems will be critical. You’ll help to set the tone in our professional Grooming School. The Dog Grooming Instructor must be able to navigate our client booking and management software and manage multiple projects at once. Depending upon the needs of the day, other responsibilities might include cleaning grooming equipment, caring for dogs, bathing dogs, cleaning and maintaining the facility, booking appointments using our client booking software, checking dog clients in and out using our cash management system and assisting others when necessary. We are looking for a motivated, self-starter able to work with minimal supervision, but willing to be aided by guidance.
