Christian Health Care Center is Hiring a Dining Room Server Near Wyckoff, NJ

We have an exciting opportunity for a part-time, Dining Room Server to join Hillcrest. The Dining Room Server will be responsible for serving and cleaning up of meals to residents in dining room. Works with others by assisting in light preparations for meal service and for general sanitation of dining facilities and kitchen. Assists in conducting recreational programs for residents. Demonstrates an understanding of, and embraces, the mission statement of the Christian Health Care Center.

Competencies:

  • Assures that all food is stored properly and dated and discarded according to health regulations; restocks and organizes refrigerators.
  • Aides in compliance with various resident diets and food preferences.
  • Actively participates in kitchen and dining room cleaning and maintenance.
  • Completes assignment schedule.
  • Maintains an atmosphere of warmth and acceptance throughout the residence; welcomes new residents.
  • Receives and adequately provides report in communication log book daily.
  • Initiates performance of other related tasks, such as photo copies, "down time tasks" or other tasks as assigned.
  • Tracks meal choice (request) changes, LOAs, guest trays and ancillary charges and logs in communication book and on monthly logs.
  • Able to initiate work improvements.
  • Organizes and prepares resident meals, including trays to be served in room.
  • Assists in putting away/storage of pantry, dry storage and office supplies when they arrive.
  • Interacts effectively with Director and is an effective liaison. Is able to address resident concerns appropriately; updates Director accordingly.
  • Understands and assists in set-up, and serving of resident meal services and tea cart.
  • Is aware of and utilizes facility policies and procedures to meet all of the resident’s needs.
  • Works independently and effectively in absence of the Director.
  • Completes daily cleaning assignments; i.e. Removes items and cleans shelves in kitchen and storage area; cleans in and under sink.
  • Cleans and disinfects kitchen containers; cleans and fills condiment containers.
  • Oversight of weekend menu versus supplies and follows required heating instructions to assure that weekend meals run smoothly.
  • Attends monthly staff meetings and/or reviews and signs minutes.
  • Alert to change in resident's condition, reports to Director and documents in communication log.
  • Reports incidents, accidents and unsafe conditions and follows through with Director.
  • Observant of supplies and orders adequate counts of supplementary food items for next shift.
  • Checks on residents when they do not arrive to attend a scheduled meal.
  • Assists in implementing facility medical emergency policy when needed.

Schedule: 10:30am-6:30pm, Work Every other Sunday only.

Education: Must be a minimum of (16) years of age.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

Demonstrates compliance with the CH ASPIRE Standards of Performance.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in food service preferred.
  • Experience and/or knowledgeable in needs of geriatric residents.
  • Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents.
