Middle School Special Education Teacher 2024-25About RISE Prep Mayoral Academy RISE Prep Mayoral Academy is a college preparatory K-8 public charter school located in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. Approved by the Rhode Island Board of Education in October 2014, RISE Prep opened the doors to the inaugural class of Kindergarteners in September 2015. RISE Prep Elementary School will educate scholars in grades K-8 in 2024-25. Through a rigorous curriculum, highly structured learning environment, and character education, RISE Prep Mayoral Academy ensures that all Kindergarten through 8th grade scholars achieve the academic skills, content knowledge, and character required for the path to college. RISE Prep is dedicated to providing a high-quality education to ALL scholars. RISE Prep joins Rhode Island Mayoral Academies in establishing intentionally diverse schools that enroll from both urban and suburban communities. - Take ownership for the academic results of their scholars

- Believe in the urgency and importance of providing an outstanding college preparatory academic and character education to all scholars and have a "whatever-it-takes" attitude
- Work well within a team and approach all work with positivity and determination
- Are goal-driven, analytical problem solvers, and embody a can-do spirit and strong work ethic
- Are committed to ending the disparity in high-quality options between urban and suburban communities in regards to education
- Candidates for middle school must have a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education and one of the following teaching certifications in Grades 5-8 from the Rhode Island Department of Education: a Middle Grades (5-8) Content Certification AND a Middle Grades (5-8) Special Education Certification. Elementary or Secondary Extension Certificates are acceptable; OR an All Grades (PK-12) Special Education Teacher Certification.
- Adapt ambitious, rigorous, and standards-aligned curricula, lesson plans and activities grounded in the CCSS and RISE Prep's scope and sequences to meet the specific needs of scholars with IEPs and 504 Accommodation Plans
- Learn and internalize their grade's scope and sequence content to readily adapt lessons to reach individual needs
- Work collaboratively with each grade's classroom teachers to provide up-to-date information of progress for teachers to effectively differentiate instruction
- Frequently review multiple modes of scholar data to inform individualized instructional focuses
- Frequently and consistently implement assessments aligned to specific IEP goals and objectives
- Work with online progress monitoring tools and submit service time notes daily
- Communicate with families and teachers about scholar progress on a daily basis
- Submit and send monthly progress monitoring updates with quantitative data of scholar progress
- Submit weekly lesson plans outlining objectives/accommodations to be addressed for each scholar
- Provide engaging, differentiated, appropriately paced, and rigorous instruction in small group, and individual settings
- Establish and maintain a culture of achievement and growth for all scholars; uphold school-wide and class systems, rules and consequences, and rewards at all times
- Hold high expectations for academic growth and behavior at all times
- Plan, coordinate, and facilitate special education meetings with all necessary and required documentation sent and signed within legally defined timelines
- Write comprehensive evaluation reports and Individualized Education Plans/504 Accommodation Plans with targeted, strengths-based language
