As a Pharmacist, GS-0660-14, you will provide authoritative clinical pharmacy expertise and guidance in support of one or more CMS program policy or support teams responsible for interpreting, developing, monitoring, or evaluating applicable laws, regulations, and policies.

Duties
  • Gather and analyze clinical and cost information, assessing utilization, obtaining provider opinion; and performing pharmacoeconomic analyses.
  • Provide authoritative technical assistance as a professional pharmacist to CMS staff and leadership at the regional or consortium level on regulations, policies, procedures, and other guidelines.
  • Serve as a recognized technical authority and expert as a professional pharmacist to develop, monitor, enforce, and provide technical assistance on regulations, policies, procedures, and other guideline materials.
  • Manage highly complex projects, making contributions that have significant impact on major CMS IRA policies, programs, and milestones.
  • Provide professional pharmacy consultation, negotiation, and advice on a wide range of Inflation Reduction Act related program issues or policies.

This will prevent you from receiving further consideration.In order to qualify for the GS-14, you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include:
  • Dispensing medications prescribed by physicians and other health practitioners and providing information to health practitioners and patients about proper usage of medications and side effects;
  • Evaluating medication use patterns and outcomes for patients in hospitals or managed care organizations;
  • Performing administrative, consultative, or staff advisory work for a medical facility's pharmacy program;
  • Planning, monitoring and evaluating medication programs or regimens;
  • Establishing medication-handling procedures for the storage and preservation of medications;
  • Researching medical literature and/or clinical medication information to provide accurate responses to inquiries; and/or
  • Maintaining all medication records required by law.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
EducationEducation Requirement: In addition to meeting the qualification requirements, all candidates must have the following educational requirements: A doctoral degree in Pharmacy that is recognized by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. You are strongly encouraged to submit a copy of your transcripts at the time of application. Unofficial transcripts will be accepted at the time of application. Official transcripts will be required from all selectees prior to receiving an official offer.
License/Registration Requirement: In addition to meeting the qualification requirements, all candidates must possess the license/registration listed below. Proof of license/registration MUST be submitted at time of application. Failure to submit proof of license/registration at the time of application WILL result in an ineligible rating.

This position will be in direct support of the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022. This Act increases healthcare spending by nearly $100 billion, mainly by extending the American Rescue Plan's temporarily-expanded Affordable Care Act (ACA) premium tax credits for an additional three years, through 2025. The bill will also allow Medicare to negotiate prescription drug prices, implement improvements to Medicare Part D including a benefit redesign and new manufacturer discount program, impose inflation rebates for Part B and Part D drugs, and other miscellaneous changes in Part B and Part D to improve the affordability of prescription drugs.Workplace Flexibility at CMS: This position has a regular and recurring reporting requirement to the CMS office listed in this announcement; however, CMS offers flexible working arrangements and allows employees the opportunity to participate in telework combined with alternative work schedules at the manager's discretion. This position may be authorized for telework. Telework eligibility will be discussed during the interview process. Supervisory positions must report a minimum 2 times per week and non-Supervisory positions must report a minimum of 2 times per pay period.
