We are seeking a Low Voltage Systems Designer to meet the needs of our clients and prospects, providing them with well-designed and effective security solutions, and contributing to the success and growth of our company.

Summary:

Do you have experience designing structured cabling systems? Have a solid understanding of the Design & Construction process? Are you comfortable working in multiple design environments including AutoCAD & Revit? Ready to work in a fast paced, client oriented, problem-solving environment? Do you have the experience or desire to design systems that integrate with other building systems to provide overall Building Intelligence? Can you think on your feet, handle multiple tasks, and can you take the ball across the finish line?

Then you are exactly who we are looking for. Our ideal candidate should have a minimum of three (3) years low voltage design experience, or a minimum of three (3) years experience with a bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field (Electrical, Computer, etc.). The applicant must have achieved, or be able to achieve, their RCDD Certification within 18 months of employment. Additional desire to obtain ASIS PSP, NICET, CDT or relevant low voltage design designation a plus.

Key Responsibilities:

This position will be responsible for supporting Sentinel's electronic and physical security engineering and consulting division. This group specializes in consulting, designing, engineering, project management, testing, and commissioning of small to large enterprise integrated security systems. These security systems include a combination of video surveillance, access control, intercom, intrusion detection, mass notification, audiovisual design, security operations centers, network and infrastructure design, and more.

Other Key Skills for our candidate are as follows:

  • Knowledge or familiarity with other related disciplines including Electrical, Fire Alarm, BAS
  • Proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD MEP, Revit, including setting up the project to final completion of construction documents/models
  • Designing of physical networks, rack layouts, and completing associated riser diagrams and specifications
  • Knowledge of NEC, Life Safety, Building Codes and other affiliated codes desired
  • Multi trade coordination experience required
  • Must be able to perform site surveys for existing conditions as well as understand how to develop pathways for new deployments
  • Ability to design physical network/backbone & understanding of other building systems

Clearance Requirements:

The ability to undergo background investigations by Sentinel Consulting and/or our clients is required. Applicants must have the ability to attain a Department of Defense secret security clearance, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Secure Worker Access Card (SWAC), and/or a Transportation Security Administration Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
