JOB PURPOSE :
To provide assistance to the Library / Media Specialist in the delivery of library and media services for students and staff at Middlebrook School.

Prior related experience in a library and / or with students preferable

Knowledge of A / V equipment helpful

RESPONSIBILITY / ACCOUNTABILITY :
Responsible for quality and quantity of own work as assigned by certified teacher or building administrator.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES :
Library Learning Commons SupportAssists Library Media Specialist in maintaining the online library catalog including technology resources.
Orients students, parents, and staff to information about and the use of the Library Learning Commons.Assists students and staff in proper use of the online catalog and other databases including digital tools and online resources.
Assists with Ready-Access digital learning through management of devices, troubleshooting, user support, inventory, report generation, organizing repairs, assisting students with printing, and laminating.
Assists students in research for projects.Shelves library items, shelf reads and weeds per the Library Media Specialists direction.
Creates a variety of reports to track Chromebooks and other devices, overdues and other library functionsSupports all students in finding appropriate books.
Troubleshoots student chromebooks and printer problems.Performs students' check-outs and returns, interlibrary loans; processes overdue notices.
Oversees volunteers and organizes their assignments.Assists Library Media Specialist with classes scheduled in the Library Learning Commons.
Supports development of MARC Records with LMS oversightMaintains category codes, book processing, records, circulation and other service informationMaintains familiarity with Follett Destiny, Resource Manager, Dewey decimal system, genres, library categories, and call numbers.
Compiles statistics for monthly circulation, overdue notices, category lists for teachers; assist Library Media Specialists in maintenance of all reports.Administrative Support
Request and receive materials, and request release of payment through Business Office for LLC items as requestedOversee all payments and refunds for lost and paid library materials and student devices.
Receive, reconcile, and verify vendor orders for all new library materials, equipment and supplies with LMS oversight.Track supplies, order and maintain inventory of all library materials.
Answer phones, receive, sort and distribute media center mail.File, photocopy, type and perform data entry as neededGeneral Support
Work independently with minimal supervision.Open Library Learning Commons as required or requested.Utilize technology on a regular basis to assure timely and accurate communications as appropriate (i.
e., e-mail, etc.).Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of student and school information.Maintains positive and professional relationships with co-workersProactively work to utilize the work day effectively;
manage time to meet workload demands and student / teacher schedules.Serve as a resource to and provide assistance to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teacher.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT :
184 day position in accordance with agreement between the Wilton Board of education and WAESCA
EVALUATION :
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the employee's immediate supervisor / administrator in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between WAESCA and the Wilton Board of Education
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS : Ability to lift up to ten (10) lbsAbility to stoop, reach, stretch, bend, lean at odd angles to shelve library and media materialsAbility to sort, distribute, and lift media center materials.
