Company Description

Eastern Carolina Rail is a non-profit corporation incorporated under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Their mission is to engage the resources of Southeastern North Carolina to restore rail passenger service from Wilmington to Raleigh. The initiative has garnered significant public support and has federal and state funding available. Eastern Carolina Rail aims to rally further public and private support to transform this initiative into a tangible reality. Role Description

This is a volunteer remote role for a Grant Writer at Eastern Carolina Rail. The Grant Writer will be responsible for grant administration, proposal writing, prospect research, grant writing, fundraising, and supporting the organization's efforts to restore passenger rail service. The Grant Writer will work closely with public and private sector stakeholders and engage with public officials to gain support for the initiative. Qualifications

  • Grant Administration, Proposal Writing, and Grant Writing skills
  • Experience in conducting prospect research
  • Fundraising experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and remotely
  • Passion for transportation infrastructure and community development
  • Experience in the transportation or nonprofit sector is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is preferred
