ABS is Hiring a Procurement Sourcing Specialist Near Wilmington, DE
Summary: This position is looking for an individual to support the Procurement Department at ABS by implementing supply chain and business partnering strategies that will support the research and development activities of ABS’ clients and partners. This role will work with the Director of Biospecimen Network Operations to manage the sourcing and contracting process for the acquisition of biospecimens.
Corporate Responsibilities:
- Adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Adherence to applicable company policies and guidelines
- Adherence to federal and/or local regulations as applicable
- Work closely with the Director of Biospecimen Network Operations to execute biospecimen acquisition strategy
- Collaborate with Procurement in sourcing, vendor management, and operations to prioritize sourcing strategies and business priorities
- Execute a strategic and value-based sourcing plan to partner with vendors, biobanks, and clinical sites that can provide biospecimens
- Conduct research and data gathering of supply market
- Identify and evaluate potential vendor sources of biospecimens to meet key business needs
- Collect and document vendor information including vendor characteristics and capabilities
- Screen and assess potential vendors for biospecimen capabilities and services
- Outline vendor requirements and qualifications and develop a communication plan
- Identify barriers to vendor onboarding and development and leverage ABS vendor expertise to mitigate barriers
- Manage and communicate progress of vendor development to Procurement
- Negotiate and contract with vendors
- Initiate vendor relationship management process
- Communicate with vendors regarding ABS expectations in terms of performance and quality metrics
- Analyze onboarding process and existing vendor performance to identify opportunities for continuous performance improvement
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences is required; Master’s degree is preferred
- Strong knowledge of clinical research workflow in a hospital or clinical setting highly preferred
- Minimum of 5 years relevant working experience in procurement or comparable industry including hospital or clinical biorepositories, biobanks, CRO’s
- Minimum 2 years relevant technical experience working with biospecimen management, lab management or similar organizations
- Working knowledge biobanking industry guidelines and accreditations
