JOB CLASSIFICATION SUMMARYPerforms semi-skilled to skilled preventative, repair, or maintenance activities in the construction, maintenance and repair of Town facilities.DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICSThis is a senior level maintenance and operations classification in the facility maintenance job family that requires advanced technical knowledge and skill in the technical/functional aspects of assigned role. Work involves planning and coordinating work assignments and the modification of established guidelines and the initiation of new approaches.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
ESSENTIAL DUTIESThe following are intended to describe core work functions of this classification. While the level and broad nature of essential duties may not change, specific work tasks will vary over time depending on the Town’s needs.Performs routine to skilled maintenance activities on electrical, plumbing, HVAC, boiler and chiller systems.Performs building trades activities such as roofing, masonry, welding, and related activities.Performs building safety checks and resolves any items of concern.Makes repairs to irrigation systems.Participates in building remodels.Performs public pool maintenance involving chemicals, cleaning and purchasing of needed suppliesSets up and tears down stages, sound systems and lighting.Assists with parks maintenance as needed.Performs related work as assigned.KNOWLEDGEMethods, materials, tools, and standard practice for the installation, operation, and maintenance of applicable facilities equipment, devices or systems;Occupational hazards and safe working practices;Applicable Federal, state and county OSHA regulations;Standard equipment including the computer and programs relevant to the performance of applicable duties and responsibilities. SKILLSPreparing and maintaining accurate work records;Performing manual/physical activities;Reading and interpreting technical and operational documents, blueprints, and diagrams;Using computers and related software applications;Estimating time and material requirements of work projects;Reading and interpreting maps, technical specifications and operations manuals for equipment;Communicating effectively, both verbally and in writing;Using applicable hand and power tools and equipment related to area of assignment;Communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, and other interested parties sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
