Overview

POSITION PURPOSE/MISSION:

Gain exposure to internal operations at Atlas-Aerospace through hands on experience in manufacturing, engineering, drafting, planning and other areas of the company. This will be a full-time position during the summer with the opportunity for continued part-time work during the school year.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Participate in training program that will include exposure to Planning, Drafting, Tooling requirements, and engineering drawing review.
• Assist in key engineering projects.
• Assist facilitating and analysis of current and new projects including cost analysis.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: 

Minimum Technical Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor degree in Engineering, prefer Manufacturing, Mechanical or Electrical.

Degree program alignment:

• Hands on work experience in a manufacturing environment
• Review of customer engineering to determine manufacturing requirements including raw materials, tooling, machining and fabrication methods, and processing requirements.
• Drafting experience involving creation of sketches, masking cards, and assembly drawings to aid manufacturing. Review of GD&T requirements during fabrication and inspection.
• Cost analysis of manufacturing processes. Review of should cost vs. actual cost of production and determination and implementation of cost saving initiatives.
• Presentation skills in providing Engineering management with results from cost analysis and proposed changes to improve manufacturing to eliminate waste or reduce manufacturing time.

Office and shop environment

• Eye protection necessary while working on shop floor
• Masks required throughout
• Some heavy lifting due to the movement of parts and check fixtures

Math Ability:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Experience:

Three to five years’ experience in a manufacturing environment (machine shop, weld shop, precision sheet metal, assembly shop) or equivalent.

Education: Aerospace, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering degree from an accredited college.
