Vanguard Renewables is the premier anaerobic digester developer/owner/operator in the United States. Our closed-loop anaerobic digestion process converts organic waste and cow manure into green electricity or renewable natural gas as well as other related “value-added” products. Our head office is in Weston Massachusetts, and we are funded by institutional capital partners. We currently have over twenty projects in development operating in over thirteen States. We have a plan to continue to aggressively expand into other domestic markets.
As we continue our exciting growth, we are looking to add a new Transportation Compliance Manager to our management team.
This opportunity will be on-site (4 days a week), Friday’s remote, in our Weston Massachusetts corporate office with overall oversight of our corporate transportation compliance program in accordance with federal, state, provincial, and local legislation.
Roles and Responsibilities

• Ensuring that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and always acting in a safe manner
• Review new and/or amended regulations, obtain clarifications, and provide guidance documents to applicable company employees and operational groups
• Programs include but are not limited to hours of service, medical surveillance, driver qualifications, controlled substance and alcohol testing, training, and vehicle management
• Maintain and update established transportation related policies and procedures
• Oversee the preparation and response to all transportation related external audits and inspections
• Oversee all Federal, State, Provincial and local transportation permitting activities including related operating and fee report preparation and submittal
• Maintain close partnership with Logistics & Operations Department and ensure goals and objectives are aligned
• Investigate all incidents and accidents, obtain all relevant information, make all necessary oral and/or written notifications and track and confirm corrective actions
• Provide on call services for transportation related incidents and events
• Permit application/ upkeep/ distribution/ reporting for trucks, trailers, and transportation assets.
• DQ file housing and upkeep (Driver Qualification). Ensure all company drivers are current with licensing/ Med cards / etc
• Explore, recommend, and implement any 3rd party solutions to assist with permitting, DQ files, DOT hours of service, asset tracking, etc.
• In partnership with the logistics department leaders - Support & Fleet Maintenance, manages the CSA score, including creating plans focused on managing leasing providers to ensure all repairs and service are performed to ensure no DOT violations or hits to CSA score
• Oversee new and incumbent driver training curriculum and processes
• Develop, implement, and monitor driver and supervisor training.
• Ensure all equipment is permitted and has required up to date permit books.

Minimum Qualifications

• 5 years in transportation compliance or related role
• Extensive knowledge of Federal, State and Provincial transportation and waste regulations under all modes of transportation
• Excellent communications, writing and presentation skills
• Excellent organizational skills, employee management skills, proficient in windows-based applications including but not limited to Excel, Work and PowerPoint
• Ability to take a concept, utilize an array of resources, and bring it to full expression
• Able to mentor and develop staff and build a cohesive and results driven department
• Ability to travel up to 25%
