Summary:

  • This position will lead the development and implementation of the site Mechanical Integrity Program according to OSHA 1910.110(j), and serve as the mechanical SME providing technical expertise to operations, maintenance, and capital projects as required.

Job Description:

  • Accountable for developing inspection strategies for fixed equipment, including implementation of Risk Based Inspections per API 580/581.
  • Verify RBI data quality by providing QA/QC quality checks on RBI deliverables, evergreening RBI data.
  • Monitors condition of assets and updates inspection plans as necessary to ensure mechanical integrity of equipment
  • Performs FFS and other engineering calculations for fixed equipment and piping
  • Works with operations, maintenance, and technical teams to identify and correct bad actors, drives root cause failure analysis (RCFA), recommends and implements corrective actions
  • Assists with the development of the site Mechanical Integrity Program according to OSHA 1910.119 (j), including writing procedures.
  • Ensuring that work carried out by operations, maintenance, and engineering complies with site procedures, and providing training to other groups as necessary
  • Reviews contractor equipment specifications and procedures as required and participates in the MOC process for capital improvements, leak repair devices, hot taps, line freezes
  • Provides input for the engineering, design, review, installation, and acceptance of capital projects and ensures compliance with applicable codes and regulations
  • Monitors performance metrics and adheres to regular reporting requirements
  • Assists and reviews spare part requirements; ensures proper stocking of critical parts
  • Abides by all safety procedures and practices applicable to location and position; participates in appropriate safety training; demonstrates commitment to and support of EHSS principles and values; champions safety
  • Performs other duties assigned by management that generally fall within the expected scope of this position

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline required

Minimum Years of Experience:

  • 7-10 years minimum relevant experience pertaining to engineering, installation, and maintenance of fixed equipment in the petrochemical, chemical process, or refining industries
  • Knowledge of Maintenance and Reliability best practices
  • Knowledge of applicable codes including NBIC, API, ASME, PCC, etc.
  • Broad knowledge of regulatory codes and legal requirements applicable to chemical plants
  • Experience in RBI software systems, including PCMS, GE Meridium, E2G Plant Manager and other inspection data management systems (IDMS)
  • Ability to use MS Office, SAP, and other company databases.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and follow through on assignments
  • Must be willing to spend time in the field
  • Fluent in English language including reading, writing and speaking; ability to read and write at a minimum of high school level; ability to clearly communicate to all levels in organization

Certificates/Licenses (preferred):

  • Certified API 510, 570, 571, 576, 579, 580, 581, 653
  • Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP)
  • Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) or Certified Reliability Leader (CRL)
  • Professional Engineer in Mechanical Engineering (P.E., ME)
