Position Overview

The purpose of this position is to package, label, and stage all orders to ensure customer satisfaction and to reduce shipping costs of returned or forgotten material.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Works to supply products and services that meet or exceed the customers' expectations. Follows the documented quality systems and processes that are continually being improved to satisfy our customers' needs.
  • Record product, packaging, and order information on specified forms and records.
  • Mark and label containers, container tags, or products, using marking tools.
  • Examine and inspect containers, materials, and products to ensure that packing specifications are met.
  • Measure, weigh, and count products and materials.
  • Compare work order with prints to determine location of missing parts.
  • Communicate to 2nd shift loaders via location sheet where jobs are located that are to be shipped that evening.
  • Communicate with supervisor to get shipping list for the day with instructions for how to package.
  • Work with Quality Control Inspector to determine repairs or parts that are located away from the normal area.
  • Gathers production orders from various pieces of machinery using both (forklift and crane) and moves to packaging/staging area in Bay 7.
  • Performs all weld repairs from gouges made on the burn machines.
  • Determines priority and sequence of operations.
  • Inspects work in progress and completed to ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Keeps records of work in progress and completed along with employee time and materials.
  • Starts, adjusts, and repairs packaging machinery, or notifies the maintenance department.
  • May assist Production Manager or other Supervisors in other duties or special projects as needed.

  • Customer and Personal Service: Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Organizing, Planning, and Prioritizing Work: Developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your work.
  • Communicating with Supervisors, Peers, or Subordinates: Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
  • Transportation: Knowledge of principles and methods for moving people or goods by air, rail, sea, or road, including the relative costs and benefits.
  • Production and Processing: Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Operating Vehicles, Mechanized Devices, or Equipment: Running, maneuvering, navigating, or driving vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts or overhead cranes.
  • Tools: Personal protective equipment (hard hats, safety glasses, steel toed shoes etc.),dollies, forklifts, overhead cranes, welding equipment, hand trucks or accessories, pallet trucks, computers, printers, and wrapping machinery.
  • Technology: ERP software, inventory management software, and Microsoft Office software.

Qualifications

  • This particular position requires the individual to have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED); 1-6 month(s) of prior experience; or a combination of education and prior experience.

Preferences

  • Some previous work-related experience is a plus.
  • Previous forklift, overhead crane, and welding experience.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms, and be able to communicate verbally and in writing and take direction. The employee is frequently required to be in a stationary position, move about the buildings, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The individual will be performing physical activities that require considerable use of the arms and legs and movement of the whole body involving things such as lifting, balancing, moving, stooping, and handling of materials. The individual will frequently operate heavy machinery, office equipment, and use eye-hand coordination. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold, and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
