Description:
The Controls Engineer is responsible for creating electric and pneumatic control schematics, as well as PLCs and HMIs for industrial machinery. They will work with other engineers to develop and troubleshoot automation systems, both remotely and in person. The Controls Engineer will also assist in creating technical manuals and supporting field technicians during equipment assembly and commissioning.
Essential Duties:
Work with mechanical engineers for the interface and installation of PLC and embedded control-based hardware and software systems.
Prepare equipment drawings and documentation and supervise the implementation.
Perform the set-up, calibration, design testing and troubleshooting of circuits, components and instruments.
Develop and document new PLC control systems from concept to installation.
Partner with other engineers and Operations team members to ensure equipment is meeting expectations and producing desired outcomes.
Understand process control issues, developing control solutions to improve outcomes.
Analyze and recommend changes to equipment for improvements in performance and cost reduction.
Develop project requirements, preparing project specifications, cost estimates and justification.
Maintain configuration control of current PLC source code.
Support training initiatives on new installations and develop standard operating procedures.
Provide technical support to the field technicians for all manufacturing builds during the assembly and commissioning of equipment.
Assist in creation of technical manuals and process documentation.
Stay abreast of the latest technology and techniques to provide designs that are competitive and cost-effective.

MUST HAVEs
BSEE or equivalent.
2 - 5 years of electrical design engineering experience.
Experience programming Allen Bradley PLCs from scratch
Experience working w/Servo motors (including sizing, programming, troubleshooting, and tuning as well as electrical noise control and torque limiting techniques.)
Experience with designing, modifying, and troubleshooting pneumatic systems
Nice to Have
Experience with food processing or packaging equipment
