Walsh Engineering Associates, Inc. is a growing Maine-based Consulting Engineering firm that specializes in Civil Site Engineering, Environmental Permitting, Compliance and Construction Management Services for a diversified clientele. The company has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Environmental Permitting Manager to join their Westbrook Maine team.

Walsh Engineering is focused on exceeding expectations by working closely with clients to execute projects that include a balance of innovative and practical design with equally high standards for construction execution. Their respected team of professionals provides clients with the most responsive and highest quality professional consulting services available.

The Environmental Permitting Manager will be responsible for project permits for zoning, site and subdivision, wetlands sand dunes and stormwater. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in technical writing and compliance. The Environmental Permitting Manager will also be interacting with clients and local government officials. This is an opportunity to impact the entire project from design through construction. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Driving and coordinating the effective delivery of project permits for a variety of civil engineering projects that meet the required outcomes for clients and key stakeholders ensuring timely completion.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective, professional relationships with relevant stakeholders including clients, government agencies and allied professionals.
  • Providing permitting leadership, direction, and mentoring to the team.
  • Drive permitting efficiencies and quality of each project.
  • Contributing to the development, growth, and expansion of Walsh Engineering Associates’ portfolio of clients and projects through execution of permit applications
  • Delivery high-quality projects and service to clients.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with competing demands and priorities.
  • Ability to effectively prepare and present projects to local permitting authorities and coordinate approval process

Requirements:

  • Desire to work in a fast-paced environment while multi-tasking
  • Ability to coordinate with project managers on all project details
  • Ability to drive project permits
  • Degree in Environmental permitting or related experience
  • 5 years of land use permitting experience
  • Experience with local site plan and subdivision approval
  • Experience with Maine DEP permitting, included Site Location of Development, NRPA, Stormwater, and Shoreland Zoning
  • Experience with Army Corps Of Engineers wetland and dredge permitting
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
