Murphy Search Group is Hiring an Electrical/ Electronics Technician Near Westbrook, CT

Electrical / Electronic Technician
Ideal candidate will have competency in both Electrical and Electronic systems. Responsible to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain electrical and/or electronics components of production equipment; keep machines in operable condition. Machinery includes packaging machines and other production equipment.
Position involves mostly electronic and electrical duties; but may also involve mechanical repairs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Analyze and troubleshoot electrical and/or electronic problems on production equipment; including programming changes to logic controllers.
  • Repairs, installs, and inspects electronics or electronic systems as directed through verbal or written directions, diagrams, drawings, or specifications.
  • Work with Staff Engineer to design and implement changes to enhance production.
  • Maintains and makes necessary operating adjustments to electronic and/or control systems; including troubleshooting.
  • Ensures local, state, and national electrical codes are followed and proper materials are used throughout electrical systems.
  • Ensure machines guards and safety interlocks are operating properly.
  • Manages and installs cables and wiring, splicing as needed.
  • Creates or adapts parts as needed to make repairs and improve the performance of various electronics.
  • Perform preventative maintenance according to schedule.
  • Procure materials and parts necessary to make machine repairs.
  • Performs safety checks to ensure design plans are feasible in various conditions.
  • Reports potentially dangerous electrical equipment to supervisor and takes steps to resolve the issue.
  • Instructs employees regarding safe working procedures and requirements when working with electronic equipment and components.
  • Develops and maintains records related to electronic and electrical equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area; promote safe working conditions.
  • Perform all work in accordance with established Safety, GMP and company procedures.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience electrical maintenance.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of electrical and electronic principles.
  • Working Knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC).
  • Basic mechanical skills.
  • Ability to read, understand and repair parts from electrical and/or electronic blueprints and sketches.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and other plant personnel
Electronic Technician certification or comparable certification or licensure Preferred.
CT E2 license preferred
