US Army Installation Management Command is Hiring a Custodial Services Worker (Machine Operation) Near West Point, NY

Duties

  • Receive instructions from the Worker Leader and perform necessary work to complete the task with all the necessary required safety equipment.
  • Perform cleaning duties using the appropriate sanitizing solutions. Lift, carry and move equipment supplies and other items weighing up to 50 pounds following safe lifting techniques.
  • Operate and perform preventive maintenance on custodial machines following instructions for safe operations.
  • Maintain a specified area orderly and clean by following general instructions.
  • Prepare maintenance machines for storage.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Custodial Services Worker (Machine Operation)~ without more than normal supervision. Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
Screen Out: Remove trash and/or washing and cleaning, and/or ground maintenance, and/or similar tasks, and/or perform routine maintenance on tools and/or equipment such as vacuums, buffers, and floor/wall machines.

  • PHYSICAL EFFORT: Employee exerts physical effort in frequently lifting, carrying, and moving equipment, supplies, and other items weighing up to 50 pounds. Objects weighing over 50 pounds are handled with assistance of other employees, or with lifting and/or carrying equipment. Work involves continuous walking, bending, moving, and reaching. Physical effort is required when operating heavy power snow or leaf removal equipment. Must be physically able to operate industrial equipment which requires pushing and physical ability.
  • WORKING CONDITIONS: Works outside in all kinds of weather and temperature extremes, and inside in areas that may be dusty, drafty, dirty, and noisy. Employee is frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts, bruises, muscle strains, sprains, and to occasional chance of serious injury (e.g., broken bones, back injury, etc.) Special care must be exercised to avoid serious injury while using powered tools and equipment. Care must be taken to avoid serious cold weather injury while working outside during snow operations and inside when working on ladders and when using heavy powered equipment.
Must use required safety gear and equipment. Employee must follow established safety procedures and use appropriate protective clothing and/or equipment to minimize hazards in the work area. Some work sites are remote and have no facilities.
The custodial work is performed indoors most of the time, and outdoors occasionally. Exposed to conditions inherent in cleaning tasks described such as chapped hands or other irritation from working with strong cleaning agents.
