Position Summary:
Responsible for designing, developing and installing weld equipment and assisting with new model development activities.
Primary Position Responsibilities:
· To be a team member of Engineering-Weld Development Department to design, develop, order, install and setup weld/assembly equipment for new models;
· Design weld processes and weld lines based on new model product drawings;
· Order weld equipment from outside (domestic and oversea) companies. The jobs include: make equipment spec/requirement; obtain quotes, make POs, manage project progress, assist equipment makers with GES/GWS and project’s special requirement, evaluate and buy-off equipment. Some travels to domestic and oversea equipment makers may be needed based on each project requirement;
· Participate in/manage project of weld line installation. The jobs include: pack/unpack and load/upload new equipment, remove/relocate old equipment, setup/test equipment, overhaul equipment; Some travels to each NA plant may be required; Working on Weekend/Holiday/different shift may be needed;
· Assist other departments and plants for trial event parts making; Track and document weld equipment performance and problems; improve equipment maturation level through trial event;
· Track and document existing weld equipment/process problems, and provide countermeasure to improve existing weld equipment in SQCD areas, and prevent problem repeat on new equipment;
· Search and develop new technologies for weld process and production automation to promote SQCD;
· Study D/C impact to weld equipment;
· Support Sales Department to make weld equipment and production quotation for new models;
· Follow safety policies and procedures; Keep working area COP, and promote an orderly, safe, efficient working environment.

Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industries System Engineering or a related field and/or 2-3 years or more years of related experience and/or training are required;
· Able to communicate (both in oral and written English) with all levels of the organization;
· Must be a good team player.
Essential Skills and Experience:
· CAD Knowledge and Skill; Be able to use CAD software such as CATIA or AutoCAD on 2D and 3D design; Understand mechanical engineering drawing and dimensioning;
· Working knowledge on Spot Weld, Project Weld and Arc Weld;
· Production experience with knowledge of Lean Mfg., JIT production, PQCD, 5P problem solving method, ideally within automotive manufacturing environment.
Supervisory Responsibility:
· To be a Person-in-Charge in weld engineering department for assigned new models;
· To supervise and assist outside equipment maker based on the assignment.
