Wells Fargo is Hiring a Financial Accountant Near WEST DES MOINES, IA

About this role:

This role is a Financial Accountant position supporting the Wells Fargo Equipment Management business and primarily supports day to day business controllership activities for the Canadian & US entities for the business. This position will be based in our Des Moines, Iowa office.

Department Overview:

The Controllers team is responsible for the SEC, Regulatory Reporting, and accounting for the Canadian & US Commercial Banking business, primarily focused on those supporting the Equipment Finance and Vendor Finance portfolio. We also support the monthly accounting close, balance sheet reconciliations, system of record management, tax accounting and a variety of ad hoc accounting and project related activities.

In this role, you will:

  • Play a support role to the various Leasing Systems of record including system enhancements and user acceptance and regression testing to ensure accurate accounting for transactions.
  • Collaborate with functional stakeholders to provide accounting support for Leasing System of record related activities.
  • Perform complex activities associated with maintaining ledger accounts and month end close.
  • Review data from the general ledger, unit reports and various financial systems to ensure accuracy.
  • Provide consultation to more experienced leadership for financial accounting related matters.
  • Prepare and review balance sheet account reconciliations and certifications.
  • Participate in projects relating to financial accounting procedures, methods, or systems.
  • Perform ongoing financial control functions in accordance with internal controls policies.
  • Provide functional advice and training to individuals.
  • Provide support for compliance and risk management requirements.
  • Collaborate and consult with stakeholders throughout the enterprise.

Required Qualifications:

2 years of Finance, Accounting, Analytics, Operational Accounting, Accounting Reporting or Risk Reporting experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.

Desired Qualifications:

  • A BS/BA degree or higher in one or a combination of the following: Finance, Accounting, Analytics, or Reporting
  • Oracle ERP experience 
  • Lease accounting industry experience. Experience with leasing system of records would be preferrable.
  • Experience with data analytic tools (Hyperion, Excel, Power BI, Axiom, and Alteryx)
  • Good analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals and work under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and across all organizational levels, where flexibility, collaboration, and adaptability are important.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
