POSITION: Temporary Groundskeeper

RESPONSIBLE TO: Maintenance Foreman

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

General Responsibilities

Perform unskilled and semi-skilled grounds maintenance to maintain maximum curb appeal at all times and to assist maintenance personnel with basic cleaning and building maintenance. This position is responsible to the Executive Director and operates under the immediate supervision of the Director of Development & Asset Management.

Essential Job Functions

• Responsible for grounds maintenance, including, but not limited to; weeding, trimming, litter control, garbage disposal and parking lot cleanliness.
• Responsible for timely removal of cobwebs from buildings.
• Responsible for the documentation and removal of all graffiti from surrounding buildings and equipment within 24 hours of observation.
• Responsible for the application of fertilizer and weed control utilizing prescribed safety precautions.
• Maintain irrigation system to insure proper watering at assigned sites.
• Responsible for cleanliness of outdoor walkways, stairwells and hallways.
• Report all violations of rules and regulations by tenants to immediate supervisor.
• Assist in basic building maintenance and unit turnover as needed.
• Attend Agency staff meeting and program staff meetings, as assigned.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must have ability to:

• Understand methods, materials and equipment used in building and grounds maintenance.
• Use of hand tools and equipment.
• Must possess physical strength and agility sufficient to perform moderately heavy manual labor, out of doors and occasionally under adverse weather conditions.
• Perform basic maintenance and repair of buildings, irrigation systems, grounds and equipment.
• Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form.
• Work independently of immediate supervision.
• Establish & maintain professional, positive, and effective working relationships with supervisors, staff, interns and volunteers.
• Maintain regular & punctual attendance.
• Maintain confidentiality on all program matters.
• Work overtime, as required.

Other Qualifications or Special Requirements

• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen including marijuana.
• Must have or be able to obtain a valid Washington State Driver’s license and maintain a good driving record.
• Must be personally bondable.
• Must be 18 years of age.
• Must have access to reliable transportation.
• Must provide proof of personal automobile insurance as per Agency Personnel Policies.
• Must wear Housing Authority issued shirts, coats and/or hats.
• May be required to carry a Housing Authority issued pager or cell phone, or use personal cell phone for Agency business when necessary.

Work Schedule

The anticipated end date is September 30th.

Full Time – 40 hours per week.

Office hours are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

This position is based in Wenatchee, with frequent travel to Manson, Chelan, Entiat, Leavenworth, Cashmere and Malaga.

Salary Range

$20 per hour.
