DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
The Janitor/Custodian is responsible to support the Maintenance Supervisor and assist to 1) protect the value of the assets of the Human Service Agency; 2) clean the HSA buildings and provide upkeep to the grounds; 3) provide a physical environment that will facilitate the delivery of quality services as needed.
Position Details:
Part Time: 15 hours per week (Monday - Friday)
Shift: Days
Pay Range: $15
Job Knowledge and Comprehension:
A. Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them.
B. Gather and empty trash.
C. Service, clean, and supply restrooms.
D. Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.
E. Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees.
F. Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
G. Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.
H. Steam-clean or shampoo carpets.
I. Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors.
J. Operate walk behind floor scrubber and floor buffing machines.
K Drive vehicles required to perform or travel to cleaning work, including vans or trucks.
L. Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
M. Other duties as assigned consistent with non-exempt functions.
Physical Requirements:
Lifting requirements may exceed 75 lbs. during maintenance situations.
Job requires bending, stooping, climbing stairs, pushing/pulling, and occasionally driving a vehicle.
High school diploma or GED.
Possess a valid South Dakota drivers license.
