TITLE: Literacy Specialist (Grant Funded Position)
LOCATION: Jefferson Lewis BOCES with initial assignment in a five-county region
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: Provide regional training on issues related to literacy instruction for students with disabilities as determined through the regional planning process throughout a five-county region.
Provide targeted professional development and embedded technical assistance on issues related to literacy instruction for students with disabilities within identified school districts through the regional planning process.
Utilize tools and training materials that have been developed and/or approved by NYSED Office of Special Education Contracted Technical Assistant Provider.
Work collaboratively with the Family and Community Engagement Centers to provide regional learning opportunities for educators, families, and agency staff members throughout the central New York region.

QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in special education, vocational rehabilitation, psychology, school psychology, reading or speech, and language or Bachelor's degree in special education, psychology, school psychology, reading or speech and language and a master’s degree in education; and at least five years of direct teaching or provision of services with, or providing training on, technical assistance relating to literacy outcomes for students with disabilities in schools and/or community service agencies. Knowledge of the latest research regarding the implementation of evidence-based practices in the area of how literacy intersects within a multi-tiered system of support. The applicant must demonstrate leadership ability and experience working on projects with school administrations. New York State Administrative Certificate preferred.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: $75,000-$82,000. This is a 12-month position. Salary commensurate with experience in keeping with the current negotiated agreement.
