Advert SLR International Corporation is seeking an entry-level Water Resources Engineer to work in its Water Resources Engineering group located in Waterbury, Vermont. Waterbury is a vibrant historic village located in central Vermont. Our office location offers candidates the opportunity to work on a wide range of water-resources projects such as river restoration, floodplain restoration, flood mitigation, stormwater management, dam removal, and design of culverts to accommodate aquatic organism passage. This permanent position is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic and growing team.
The ideal candidate will have familiarity with GIS and CAD. Hydrology and hydraulic calculation and modeling experience is preferred. The work will require periodic field trips to complete a variety of field data collection tasks that may involve work in and around rivers or roadways.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team of experienced licensed engineers, landscape architects, planners, scientists, and other professional staff that will be supportive of their growth and development. They will also have the opportunity to collaborate on exciting water resources projects using interactive and engaging tools to deliver quality work that has a positive and lasting impact on the state, communities, and environment.

Job Description Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
  • 0 to 3 years' experience in river restoration
  • Experience applying environmental modeling (e.g., HEC RAS, HEC HMS, and others)
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification preferred
  • Working knowledge of ArcPro GIS
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Technical writing proficiency
  • Interest in helping the community
  • Valid driver’s license
Key Responsibilities Key Responsibilities
  • Provide engineering design and develop technical drawings using GIS and AutoCAD for water-resource projects
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic computations and modeling
  • Collect monitoring data and perform field observations of project sites
  • Provide technical support for engineering analysis and design of water resources projects
  • Perform field measurements and analysis to support hydrologic and hydraulic computations and modeling and project design
  • Prepare technical documents and reports
  • Prepare maps and conduct analysis using geographic information systems
  • Teamwork with a positive attitude
Work Environment and Physical Demands
  • Normal amount of extended work hours may be required to meet deadlines.
  • On occasion, work outdoors in environmental conditions that include extreme heat, rain, snow, humidity, and cold.
  • During field visits, stand for long periods, climb hills, and walk through riparian corridors, forests, and undeveloped terrain, on uneven ground, and conduct work within the a stream channel.
  • Endure exposure to insects and wildlife.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
Compensation Range: The salary range for this job in most geographic locations in the US is $55,000.00 to $75,000.00. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills, and geography.
