JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE: QC Laboratory Technician

REPORTS TO: Laboratory Manager, QA Manager, Winemaker

ROLE PURPOSE: Support Brotherhood Winery’s Food Safety and Quality Management System by performing routine quality control and chemical analyses

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

• Ensuring raw materials, in-process products, and finished products adhere to internal and external specifications
• Performing quality control and chemical analysis of raw materials, in-process products, and finished products throughout the winemaking process
• Preparing chemical solutions and reagents used for laboratory analysis
• Maintaining, verifying and calibrating equipment on schedule as appropriate
• Sampling and inspecting incoming materials
• Maintaining cleanliness of laboratory environment on a daily basis
• Actively participate in the company Food Safety and Quality Management System to help ensure the quality, legality and safety of all products
• Maintaining records of analyses and inventories
• Assisting with regulatory recordkeeping and monthly reports
• Performing related duties as assigned by manager

KEY REQUISITES

MANDATORY:

• Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Chemistry, Food Science, Enology or similar scientific discipline
• Good working and theoretical knowledge of analytical instrumentation
• Experience in a chemistry or QC laboratory preferred
• Experience in food, beverage, or wine production environment preferred
• Able to walk and stand for long periods of time, reach outward and upward, climb, squat, kneel, bend and carry samples, ability to lift and carry up to 45 lb
• Computer literate- Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, database systems, etc.

• Able to safely work with chemicals and utilize aseptic technique as appropriate
• Strong attention to detail and good mathematical skills
• Flexible and adaptable in a dynamic environment
• Able to prioritize multiple tasks and adhere to strict deadlines
• Ability to work both independently and in a team

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $35,000.00 - $40,000.00 per year
