Archdiocese of St. Louis is Hiring a Maintenance technician Near Washington, MO

The Archdiocese of St. Louis strives to teach and share our faith, serve others, and foster unity throughout the St. Louis area.

Once a part of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary's campus, the Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury, MO is today the headquarters and curia (governing body) for the Archdiocese of St. Louis.

Job Summary

Provides maintenance for parish / school buildings and grounds including semi-skilled carpentry, simple plumbing and electrical troubleshooting, painting and other minor repair work.

Maintains plumbing, mechanical, and electrical systems and ensures repairs are completed when needed. Conducts preventative maintenance inspections and performs required maintenance actions such cleaning and filter changes.

Maintaining beautification and usability of the church and school grounds.

Job Responsibilities

Ensures cleanliness of the church and other parish or school buildings. Performs cleaning activities as needed and directed.

Especially responsible for cleanliness of Church and Parish Hall.

  • Maintains grounds : performs limited snow removal with hand shovels only as needed, blows walkways, weeds, prunes and rakes as directed on a seasonal basis
  • Performs minor maintenance of the rectory, church, school and / or other church buildings
  • Provides other general assistance as needed through set-up of tables and chairs in facilities, as requested
  • Hauling and moving items and picking up parts or other equipment as needed
  • Collects and disposes of trash and garbage
  • Reports cleaning and grounds maintenance inventory needs to pastor
  • Maintains an inventory of supplies for lighting and cleaning and orders supplies as requested

Job Requirements

Knowledge & Experience Requirements

  • Knowledge of and experience with light carpentry work required
  • Knowledge of and experience with minor building repairs
  • Some janitorial experience preferred
  • Knowledge and use of industrial strength cleaning chemicals

Skills & Attitudes Required for Success in Job

  • General knowledge and support of the Catholic Church, Catholic sacraments, Catholic rites and liturgies
  • Must have necessary mechanical skills and the ability to work safely with machinery and equipment requiring considerable caution
  • Must have ability to perform outlined tasks with minimum supervision and be self-motivated
  • Must have good interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to tolerate varying temperatures and climate changes
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders and stand for long periods
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule with possible evening and / or weekend hours
  • On-call availability for emergencies

Relationships Requirements

Must be able to work with Maintenance Supervisor, the Pastor, other maintenance staff, and other parish employees
