IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Director of Behavioral Health

SALARY: Band 5: LCSW ($55,100-$77,000/year), Band 6: LICSW & LMHC ($66,600-$90,500/year)

As part of a dynamic team at Charles River Community Health (CRCH), a healthcare practice providing comprehensive, integrated, and compassionate care to underserved local communities. CRCH is currently seeking a mission-driven Behavioral Health Clinician to work directly and collaboratively with the urgent needs of outpatient patients. The Behavioral Health Clinician will provide ad hoc diagnostic and therapeutic clinical services and consultation during patient sessions. They will work with the behavioral health team to identify opportunities to provide education to behavioral health interns. As part of a passionate team, the Behavioral Health Clinician will provide coordinated care to members of the community who need it the most!

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • When serving in an Integrated capacity, see approximately 45 patients a week; when serving in an Outpatient capacity see approximately 32 patients a week. In either capacity, provide biopsychosocial assessments, treatment planning and therapy to patients across the lifespan.

  • Evaluate crisis situations and apply appropriate interventions and disposition of care plans, following guidelines and state laws (i.e. DPPC and 51A reporting; Duty-to-Warn, Section 12’s).

  • Provide brief interventions for physical and behavioral health problems to assist patients with meeting goals including, but not limited to stress management, grief/bereavement, anxiety/panic attacks, depression and mood management, insomnia and sleep hygiene, substance use disorders, and smoking cessation.

  • Attend Behavioral Health and Chronic Care meetings to identify problems related to patient services and make recommendations for improvement.

  • Assist with outcome measures and data collection (when requested).

  • Prepare document services to include behavioral health services and documentation in EHR as appropriate and based on CRCH standards.

  • Communicate effectively while working within an inter-disciplinary team.

  • Facilitate referrals for clinically indicated services outside of the primary care clinic with affiliated hospitals and within the community.

  • Perform other duties as requested by the Director of Behavioral Health or designee.

QUALIFICATIONS, TRAITS, AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Current Massachusetts licensure in Social Work or counseling (LCSW/LMHC/LICSW).

  • CANS certified, or the ability to obtain certification within 60 days of hire required.

  • At least 1-year of clinical experience providing direct clinical to clients required, preferably in community health, hospital, or mental health setting preferred.

  • Bilingual in Spanish or Portuguese highly preferred.

  • Experience in mental health assessment/evaluation/diagnostic capabilities and crisis intervention/management and brief treatment.

  • Knowledge of evidenced-based treatment modalities and methods, including, but not limited to: trauma-informed care, harm reduction, motivational interviewing, solution-focused therapy, CBT, DBT, psychoeducation, mindfulness, behavioral activation, person-centered treatment preferred.??

  • Knowledge of community resources and services strongly preferred.

  • Knowledge of psychopathy, psychopharmacology, behavioral medicine and evidenced-based treatments for Mental Health and Substance Use Disorders treatment.

  • Ability to complete documentation accurately and on time, using our EHR system required.

  • Past experience using EHR preferred.

  • Clinic is open 8:30am-7:00pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays (Required to work one evening per week); 8:30am-5:00pm on and Fridays.

  • Experience working effectively and collaboratively with a broadly diverse staff and patient community.

  • Demonstrated understanding of the intersectional impacts of racism, homophobia, transphobia, sexism, ableism, classism, and other forms of oppression required.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to be an effective team member required.

  • Flexibility, adaptability, and ability to multitask required.

  • Ability to travel between both Charles River Community Health sites required.

  • Experience working with BIPOC individuals, LGBTQIA, MH, SUD and trauma strongly preferred.

  • Previous experience in outpatient therapy settings strongly preferred.

  • Must maintain a patient volume consistent with CRCH’s business objectives, prorated based upon the percent of clinical hours worked if less than full time; must retain responsibility for the coordination and supervision of clinical aspects of health care provided to these patients.

  • Must participate in the continuity of care of patients utilizing other health care facilities approved by CRCH for referrals, emergency room services, specialty referrals, and in-patient services in a cost-effective manner.

  • Must participate, as requested, in recruitment, onboarding, and clinical oversight of clinical staff.

  • Must retain responsibility for coordination and supervision of clinical aspects of mental health services provided to patients at CRCH.

  • Must facilitate CRCH’s efforts in responding to Substance Use Disorder and other behavioral health areas as directed.

  • When required, must be willing to participate in coverage for scheduled sessions during other providers’ vacation, emergency, personal, or family leaves.
