Wake Forest Presbyterian Church is Hiring a Director of Youth Ministries Near Wake Forest, NC

Position Summary

Provide spiritual leadership and development for Youth (middle and high school) working closely with the Director of Congregational Life. Also committed to ongoing relationships by displaying strong faith, being openly mission-focused, being a team player, and encouraging feedback.

Education and Experience

· Christ centered and spirit led

· Post-secondary education preferred but not required

· Proven leadership and relationship-building skills with youth, parents, church members and staff.

· Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with people of all ages from diverse educations and backgrounds (volunteers, staff, leadership, congregation members, youth and parents).

· Demonstrated effectiveness with interpersonal communications (both verbal and written)

· Excellent organization skills and ability to participate in effective planning and to oversee implementation.

· Proficiency in technology and communication tools used by youth ages 12 and up.

· Must be available for limited travel, irregular hours and reside in proximity to the Wake Forest area.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

· Make relational youth ministry a priority, encouraging youth to participate in all ministries of the church.

· Provide direction and facilitate all youth ministry programming including, but not limited to, spiritual leadership as scheduled.

· In partnership with adult volunteers, coordinate, plan, lead and attend weekly youth programs, retreats and mission activities, encouraging youth to connect with Presbytery events.

· Plan and administer annual calendar, budget and associated fundraisers to support youth ministry, in coordination with the Senior Pastor and Director of Congregational Life.

· Recruit and equip members to serve by working with elders, deacons, youth advisors, discipleship leaders and teachers to support growing ministries.

· Keep accurate and current records of all youth participants, maintaining regular communication with parents regarding physical and mental health needs and changes.

· Manage annual youth budget, including but not limited to, trip registrations and deposits, participant payments and refunds, expenses of materials and transportation, and reimbursements to volunteers.

· Organize and manage all aspects of youth trips and retreats, including chaperones, transportation, expenses, and participant needs.

· Serve in a collegial manner and communicate regularly with the Senior Pastor and Director of Congregational Life.

· Participate in workshops and conferences for continuing education as budget permits.

6. Initiative and Resourcefulness - Self-directed, resourceful and creative toward meeting job objective; follows through on assignments and modifies or develops new ideas, methods or procedures to meet changing circumstances.

7. Cooperation / Teamwork - Builds and maintains healthy relationships needed to effectively address problems and opportunities associated with their position. Active in resolving workplace conflicts, willingness to undertake assigned projects, and the employee’s support for WFPC goals and endeavors.

8. Planning and Organizing Effectiveness - Effectively plans, organizes and implements tasks or programs. Meets deadlines, maintains a clear grasp of daily tasks, and prioritizes duties in a manner consistent with organizational objectives and emergencies. Manages tasks or program assignments including follow-through and delegation.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40,000.00 - $42,000.00 per year
