State of North Carolina is Hiring an Administrative Associate II Near Wake, NC

The primary purpose of the Administrative Associate II (Mail Clerk) position is to perform daily mail handling duties for the State Highway Patrol (SHP) which includes pickup and deliveries to various locations a minimum of once daily. These deliveries are made to different sites within Wake County and bear the responsibility of maintaining office routines within the division through prompt and accurate mail delivery. This position also assists with loading the Patrol delivery truck for the field and assisting the uniform warehouse. The assigned work location is X7 Logistics - Support Services in Raleigh, NC (Wake County). 
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Courier Duties (65%):
  • Delivering and picking up all types of mail on a daily basis.
  • Making special deliveries and pick-ups at supervisor's request.
  • Assisting other SHP Units and Sections with deliveries and supplies on an occasional basis.
Office Supply Warehouse Duties (35%):
  • Ordering, keeping stock and processing field requests for office supplies.
  • Filling supply orders and loading for delivery.
  • Lifting orders and packages often exceeding 40 pounds.
  • Requisitioning and receiving stock; assisting with warehouse operations as needed.
  • Directing visitors to appropriate staff. Answering telephone and relaying messages and information accordingly. 
  • Managing the service counter and providing customer service as needed.
  • Utilizing basic office equipment such as a calculator, copier, telephone, fax machine and computer. 
  • Utilizing Microsoft Office programs including Excel, Word, Access and Outlook.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits. The typical work schedule is Monday-Friday 8:00AM-5:00PM.

The salary grade for this position is NC02. State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.
About the State Highway Patrol - X7 Logistics Unit:
The mission of the State Highway Patrol is to safeguard and preserve the lives and property of the people in North Carolina. The X7 Logistics Unit is responsible for: 1) Managing and providing service to all law enforcement vehicles within the Department (including mechanical, body shop, equipment installs), 2) Managing all occupied facilities and capital improvement projects, 3) Managing and distributing the purchases of all patrol equipment and supplies other than technology products, 4) Managing the inventory of all equipment and supplies, 5) Tracking and handling of all reimbursement requests on patrol car damages, and 6) Managing and tracking all fuel purchases and invoices.

To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL of the following:
  • Experience working in a warehouse operation and/or in a warehouse setting.
  • Experience stocking in a warehouse or facility setting. 
  • Experience utilizing a computer and associated programs (such as Microsoft Access, Excel, Outlook and Word).

MANAGEMENT PREFERENCES:

  • Previous experience with deliveries.
  • Previous experience loading and unloading a delivery truck.
  • Previous experience purchasing commercial office supplies.
  • Previous experience using inventory control software.
NOTE: Recommended applicants must undergo a Criminal Background Investigation including a Drug Screening Test. Possession of a valid NC Driver's License by the date of hire is also a requirement. Selected finalist applicant must have an acceptable driving history void of serious motor vehicle violations - no misdemeanors within the last three years.
