Job Title : Kitchen Assistant

Job Overview :

A Kitchen Assistant supports the kitchen staff in all aspects of meal preparation and presentation, ensuring that the kitchen operates smoothly and efficiently.

This role involves a variety of tasks including food preparation, cleaning, and assisting chefs as needed.

Key Responsibilities :

• Food Preparation :
• Assist in the preparation of ingredients by washing, peeling, chopping, and slicing.
• Prepare simple dishes such as salads, sandwiches, and soups.
• Ensure all food items are stored properly and maintain inventory.
• Cleaning and Maintenance :
• Wash and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the kitchen, including floors, counters, and storage areas.
• Dispose of trash and clean garbage cans.
• Support for Chefs :
• Assist chefs with various tasks as needed during food preparation and service.
• Help plate and garnish dishes before they are served.
• Handle food deliveries and ensure they are stored correctly.
• Compliance and Safety :
• Adhere to health and safety guidelines in the kitchen.
• Ensure all food items are labeled and stored at the correct temperature.
• Report any kitchen equipment malfunctions to the supervisor.
• Team Collaboration :
• Work effectively as part of the kitchen team.
• Communicate clearly with chefs and other kitchen staff.
• Assist in training new kitchen assistants when necessary.

Qualifications :

• Previous experience in a kitchen environment is a plus.
• Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Good physical stamina; ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy items.

Working Conditions :

• Flexible working hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Standing and moving around the kitchen for most of the shift.
• Exposure to heat, noise, and potentially hazardous kitchen equipment.
