JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: Custodian

Schedule: Monday to Friday (Day Shift)

Location: San Diego County

Verde's Janitor is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, hygiene, and overall appearance of the assigned work site. Responsible for ensuring the premises are clean, safe, and welcoming for occupants, employees, and visitors. Responsible for the cleaning and maintenance tasks to uphold the standards of cleanliness and sanitation.

  • Cleaning and Maintenance: Responsible for sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors, dusting and wiping down surfaces, including desks, tables, countertops, and fixtures. Responsible for cleaning and disinfecting restrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, and floors. Required to empty trash and recycling bins and replace liners. Responsible for cleaning windows and glass surfaces. Required to clean and sanitize common areas, such as hallways, staircases, and elevators.
  • Restocking Supplies: Responsible for monitoring and restocking restroom supplies, such as toilet paper, paper towels, soap, and hand sanitizers. Responsible for refilling dispensers for hand hygiene products and ensuring adequate supply in other areas as needed.
  • Floor Care: Responsible for sweeping and mopping hard floors to maintain their cleanliness and appearance. Responsible for vacuuming carpets and rugs. Responsible for operating floor cleaning equipment like polishers, buffers, and steam cleaners. Ensures proper functionality and maintenance of cleaning equipment. Reports any malfunctioning equipment to the site supervisor for repairs.
  • Safety and Security: Responsible for identifying and addressing safety hazards and potential security issues. Promptly reports any unsafe conditions or incidents to the site supervisor. Maintaining open communication with supervisors and team members regarding cleaning supplies, equipment needs, and any issues that arise.
  • Safety and Compliance: Must adhere to safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) to minimize risks associated with cleaning chemicals and equipment. Maintains compliance with industry standards, regulations, and company policies.
  • Customer Service: Required to provide courteous and helpful assistance to building occupants, visitors, and colleagues.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The following are the minimum qualifications that an individual needs in order to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this position. Please note that the minimum qualifications may vary based upon the department size and/or geographic location.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of one (1) year experience as Janitor, preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of safety hazards and proper use of various cleaning and sanitizing solutions.
  • Detail-oriented and thorough.
  • Ability to perform basic repairs and operate tools or equipment used in routine maintenance.
  • Ability to keep work area clean and orderly.
  • Ability to interact with staff, visitors, and employees at work job site while remaining professional, polite, and courteous.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is frequently required to walk and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
