Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Optometric Technician to join our team. As an Optometric Technician, you will play a crucial role in assisting optometrists in providing excellent patient care. Your responsibilities will include performing various diagnostic tests, maintaining equipment, and ensuring a smooth patient flow. Responsibilities:
- Conduct preliminary tests and screenings on patients, including measuring visual acuity, autorefraction, intraocular pressure, fundus photos, color and stereo test
- Perform optical tests such as lensometry
- Assist with contact lens fittings and instructions
- Prepare patients for examination by taking their medical history and documenting chief complaints
- Utilize electronic health record systems to input patient information accurately
- Maintain cleanliness and sterility of examination rooms and equipment using aseptic techniques
- Educate patients on proper eye care procedures and contact lens hygiene
- Assist with front desk duties such as scheduling appointments, verifying insurance coverage, and collecting payments
- Collaborate with the optometrist to ensure efficient patient flow and provide exceptional customer service
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of optical procedures, terminology, and equipment
- Proficiency in performing aseptic techniques to maintain cleanliness and sterility
- Familiarity with front desk operations including appointment scheduling and insurance verification
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and systems related to eye care
- Experience working with electronic health record systems is preferred but not required
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients and colleagues
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
