Job Summary:
Reports to branch manager and assists in the operation of the branch office. Specific operational and member service activities as delegated by the branch manager, including direct supervision of the branch staff, as may be determined from time to time. Assumes full responsibility for the operation of the branch during any absence of the branch manager.

Key Job Responsibilities
:
  • Responsible for all or part of the duties and responsibilities involved in scheduling and staffing, assignment of duties and priorities of completion in accordance with policies, principles, and procedures established by credit union and directly assigned to the branch manager.
  • Works directly with members, external persons and representatives of associated industries (i.e., SEG's) to evaluate and promote improved and expanded services in area.
  • Develops plans for efficient use of materials, machines, and team members.
  • Reviews production costs and product quality, and modifies production and service delivery methods to maintain and enhance profitable operation of branch.
  • Reviews rates and services of competing organizations. Recommends programs and services to retain existing members as well as develop new markets.
  • Serves as a Loan Officer when required and assists in every department as may be required from time to time.
  • Directs the preparation of branch reports and schedules required by Head Office or regulatory agencies.
  • Becomes/is an advocate of the Michigan First culture, supporting diversity, philosophy and other credit union initiatives. Fosters a positive image of Michigan First via professional representation in all contacts and complies with all of Michigan First’s mission and vision goals. Reflects each of the credit union’s “Isms” in daily job performance. Learns and utilizes the EMEC way (Every Member’s Experience Counts) in day-to-day responsibilities when communicating with members and team members.
  • Performs such other duties as may be delegated by the Branch Manager.

Leadership Responsibilities:
  • Manages subordinates who supervise team members in the teller/member services area. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities training team members, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining team members; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Demonstrates a commitment to our “Leader Code of Conduct”.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Must have in-depth knowledge of all credit union services, operational policies and procedures, and is able to communicate this knowledge effectively to staff and members.
  • At least three years of related experience and/or training at a supervisory level in a financial institution (i.e., Loan Manager, or Member Services Manager); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of team members of organization, as well as to members, salespersons and other external persons.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must be certified as a Notary Public for the purpose of verifying signatures, executing documents and obtaining information.
  • Ability to operate a PC to access the credit union's accounting system and member account information.
  • Basic input, output, error correction, general ledger account structure knowledge essential to be able to perform the job.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer to perform simple accounting tasks such as account reconciliation, access the Federal Reserve Account and the Corporate Credit Union account.
  • Some spreadsheet application knowledge desirable, but not absolutely essential.
